Raleigh Dance Theatre is the affiliate performance training company of The Raleigh School of Ballet. An honor member company of the prestigious Regional Dance America, Southeastern Regional Ballet Association (RDA/SERBA), RDT is one of only three pre-professional companies in NC to have displayed the quality of technique and training necessary to attain membership.
Dancers must be twelve years or older and have a strong ballet base in order to audition.
RDT dancers have the opportunity to work with guest choreographers and learn both classic and contemporary ballets. The company presents two productions per year and attends and performs at the RDA/SERBA yearly festival. The company is adjudicated yearly by a representative of RDA. Dancers are also involved in educational outreach programs in local schools and libraries. Exposure to all of these dance experiences is an important part of the education RDT dancers receive.
Former RDT dancers have been or are currently part of the world dance scene, performing with Aspen/Santa Fe Ballet, Pennsylvania Ballet, New York City Ballet, Dutch National Ballet, Stuttgart Ballet and Carolina Ballet, among others.
