Thank you all the dancers who came to the Professional Division Audition this year and we are looking forward to working with our talented dancers!
The Professional Division is a scholarship program for students who demonstrate potential for a career in ballet or contemporary dance. The purpose of the program is to give the student the necessary training and guidance to achieve their goals. It is a serious commitment for both the school and the student. Admission is by audition.
Admission is based on physical facility, emotional maturity, movement quality and training potential. In addition, students must have a strong basic technique appropriate to their age. Students who are accepted follow an intensive schedule of classes including required summer study.
The Professional Division program offers:
- Individualized programs designed to strengthen, stretch, and develop proper technique
- Dancers the opportunity to meet with the school directors for private instruction as needed
- Informal evaluation meeting with the school’s directors at least one time per year.
- Opportunity to receive an invitation to attend ballet competitions such as the ADC/IBC Youth International Ballet Competition
Professional Division students perform with Raleigh Dance Theatre.. Many have gone on to professional careers with American Ballet Theatre, New York City Ballet, Pennsylvania Ballet, Aspen/ Santa Fe Ballet, National Ballet of Flanders and Stuttgart Ballet among others.
